| hi, anyone, i just received an original japanese commercial video tape, but struggling to playback on the vcrs. thus far i've tried two models, one philips dvp3340v, one particular sylvania 2004ish model. the thing is that when i hit perform, the television only shows one second of black and white severely distorted graphic, then moves blue reen with ocasionly a few thin dark-colored strips. the mp3 is brand-new, released in 2001. so is this sort of an incompatibibity in the united states machine, or even they set some macrovision for the tape so your us market place cannot perform japanese made tapes.

vhs from the usa can be nt.vhs in asia is nt.you'll be able to play a new japanese vhs in a united states model vhs vcr.are you currently sure it's japanese i've by no means heard of a new japanese vhs that is something but the nt file format.however i have seen both nt and pal format for hong kong etc.pal vhs is not going to play in a standard usa model vhs vcr.-- john fulcilives coleman
